On Jan. 31 Hoops for Health came to tell all Park View students three important things, Don’t Do Drugs, Eat Healthy Foods, and Exercise.  Two famous guests came,  Dr.Cleo, the Cat, and the Jazz Mascot, The Bear!  They came with balls filled with confetti, pop quizzes and energy.  The assembly rocked!

First, they talked about not using things like drugs, alcohol, or tobacco.  The Bear couldn’t talk, but he wanted to make sure all his messages were heard, so he used signs.

“Say, No, To…Bear hunting season!”

“Say, No, To…Bear skin rugs!”

“Say, No, To…Drugs!!!!”

Lindsey Welton made the comment, “It was so funny and awesome; It totally rocked!!!”

Next, they told us about eating healthy foods!  They had students come up and put on T-shirts with pictures of pizza, soda, candy, meat, grains and cheese, fruit and veggies, and juice.  Lexi and The Jazz Bear had a race to see who could pick the healthy foods.  Bear picked all the junk food!   Lexi won the race because she picked the healthy foods.

Last, The Jazz Bear had everyone up on their feet exercising and having fun.

In the end, they presented everyone with a poster to remind us of all the important information presented.  These choices are all life choices and it’s important to begin developing good habits to keep ourselves healthy.
