Reading Around the World at Park View Elementary

Submitted by carrie.vannosdol on

Students at Park View Elementary participated in the annual reading contest. This year the contest was all about Reading Around the World. Students were each given a passport to fill with facts about different continents as well as to keep track of books read about or from different continents. Each week students reported on their reading goal which was then converted to miles and used to move them around the world. During the month, students who met the weekly reading goal were eligible to win prizes. The prizes included books, games, mp3 players, sports equipment, cellular phones, and more!

The top grade level readers were: Desiree Barker and Caulyn Wilde for kindergarten, Landon Serynek in first grade, Allana Lemperle in second grade, Jennifer Wilde and Stuart Charles in third grade, Danielle Paxton in fourth grade, Paisley Finch in fifth grade, and Austin Swensen in sixth grade. All together students read approximately 600,000 minute/miles! That's a lot of reading!
