Beginning this past November, the 4th grade student of Park View Elementary have been involved in a rigorous keyboarding program in hopes of preparing them for real-life. The importance of keyboarding is growing every year and is a skill that will be necessary as the use of technology increases.

Some of the highlights of keyboarding instruction have been the memorization of home row keys (without even looking) and emphasis on proper keyboarding form or "Perfect Technique". Students are getting so good at keyboarding technique they are able to effectively evaluate each other's posture, attitude and performance level.

Several of the stand-out 4th grade keyboarders were keying in the 20"s and 30"s.  Alayna Burton, Hannah Hinton, Hailey Peay, Brielle Shirley, and Landon Serynek were in the 40's and Ethan Dixon was in the 50's.  They all had less than 10 errors. We couldn't be more proud!! All students are doing their very best and improving each day.

With keyboarding running through the end of February, students will have ample opportunity to improve their typing speed and accuracy. Please be aware of the weekly keyboarding homework sent home for practice and help your student by providing many opportunities for students to apply their newly acquired keyboarding skills.
