Prepare for the End of Year Test

Submitted by joann.kirk on

 Dear Parents,

Proef, Tect, Tester, ho’ike. All of these words mean the same thing, TEST!  It’s testing time! Here are some tips that can help your child do better on end of the year testing:

Go to bed early, have a good breakfast, study, be motivated to do your best, don’t be late, use the strategy called "two minute spill" (write down everything you need to know before you begin).

Give your child a healthy diet, and make sure that your child attends school regularly.  We hope these tips help your child on the testing.

The teachers at Park View were treated with wonderful gifts provided by students, a luncheon provided by the PTA, and door decorations reminding all teachers of their care and service to their students.  Thank you to all those who made this a special week for the teachers of Park View.

3rd Grade Spelling Bee

Submitted by samantha.jasperson on

Third grade classes were able to come together for their very own Park View Spelling Bee. First, classes participated in a preliminary spelling bee in order to find the top three spellers in each class. On March 30, 2016 nine students showed their spelling skills in front of their parents, peers and second grade classes. It was a close competition and all the contestants worked hard to become the top speller. Ultimately, victors were; Jennica Chabot as our first place winner, Jack Willard taking our second place slot and Maddox Callister sliding in with a third place win.

5th Grade Egg Drop

Submitted by joann.kirk on

It's a bird; it's a plane.  No, it's an egg!  Fifth grade students were challenged to create a contraption to keep an egg from breaking after falling from the sky and crashing to the ground.  They selected teams and went right to work engineering their apparatus and securing their egg.

Then they went to the south side of the school to drop their eggs.  Some made the harrowing decent in one piece.  Others cracked under the pressure.

Park View Reaches their Goal During Penny Wars

Submitted by joann.kirk on

The Penny Wars always gets students feeling competitive, but never more than this year.  Mrs. Stirland made the goal to reach $3000 for the week to help purchase a new Chromebook Lab for the school.  Little did she know that, not only would the goal be reached, but essentially smashed!  The school earned over $5000 in pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.  This is unheard of, folks!  Mrs. Stirland promised if we reached our goal, she would be duct taped to the wall.  Mrs. Ore agreed to the same challenge.

Karaoke Anyone?

Submitted by joann.kirk on

All the students who had good behavior at Park View throughout the term were able to attend the first annual Karaoke Activity.  There has never been as much excitement, noise and singing as at this activity. Students were able to select props to wear, step up on the stage and perform their favorite tunes.   Hearts were pumpin', kids were jumpin'; it was a fun time for everyone.  Enjoy the energy with these photos:
