Spread the word, pizza pizza has never sounded so good!
Nine third grade students went head to head in the spelling bee on Monday. It was an intense competition, you could cut the tension with a knife! Mrs. Walker said "This was the best third grade spelling bee I've been apart of. They are all really good spellers!" The spelling bee went for almost an entire hour, only getting down to the top three the last five minutes. These kids worked extra hard and proved that studying and determination pays off. Good job third graders, you all did very, very well!
Last week, as part of our Look to the Future: College and Career Readiness Week, students had the incredible opportunity to participate in a type of service project. Ms. Salem asked for our help in her Soles For Souls Shoe Drive. Students were asked to bring in any extra pairs of shoes that they had laying around the house. They could donate any size shoe as long as they were in good condition. The Soles for Souls organization is non-profit, they take the shoes that were donated, clean them up so they look like new and take them to less fortunate cities and countries.
The 4th graders have been exploring the Alaskan wilderness this March by taking a deep dive into the Last Great Race on Earth, the Iditarod. After researching the Iditarod, students were assigned a musher to follow along with on the trail. They checked their mushers position in the race each day and moved their flag to their most recent checkpoint. As the race is coming to a close, students are working hard on their letter writing skills by writing letters to their mushers. Pictured above is Konrad and Annette whose musher, Brent Sass, took 1st place in this year's race!
This last week the fourth and fifth grade spelling bee finalist went head to head in the big spelling bee competition. This spelling bee was intense! Each student that participated tried their absolute best and we can call them all winners because of that. However, there was only one student who could claim the title of Park View's ultimate speller... Jacob Guerrero took the win for the second year in a row! Way to go Jake! We want to congratulate all the those that participated.
