National Principals Day
We cannot pass up an opportunity to celebrate the one and only Mrs. Walker on National Principal Day! There are a lot of wonderful things to say about Mrs. Walker, but at the top of the list, is that she is a friend. She is friends with all the students, she knows every one of them by name and greets them with a smile in the morning and bids them farewell in the afternoon. She plays games out at recess and plans the funnest activities for our students. She is also a friend to the faculty and staff, only wanting the best for everyone at Park View! We love Mrs.
5th Grade Egg Launch
The fifth graders were challenged to engineer a capsule out of a two liter soda bottle that would protect a raw egg during a launch. The capsules had to be under 500 grams. Awards were given to students whose capsules were less than 300 grams and their eggs survived the launch and impact of landing. Students used all sorts of materials to protect their eggs. There was popcorn, marshmallows, bubble wrap, styrofoam, confetti paper, grocery bags, cardboard and other materials used. We used an air compressor and water to power the egg containers during the launch.
We Love Our Secretaries!
Yesterday Park View Bees celebrated some of the most important people in the school, our secretaries! Mrs. Kent, Mrs. Crump, Mrs. Knuteson and Mrs. Sanchez always go above and beyond in their jobs. Everyone in the school loves them. They are caring, thoughtful, organized, and a whole lot of fun. They are the glue that keeps our school running! So, thank you secretaries, WE LOVE YOU!
4th and 5th graders from all around the district participated in the keyboarding competition! At the district level, there were 259 fourth graders and 266 fifth graders competing. We had 11 fourth graders and 9 fifth graders qualify for this competition! The top fourth grader from our school was Brigham Holloway at 40 words per minute and the top fifth grader was Maliha Jacobson at 57 words per minute. Both of these students got the Golden Keyboard award for being the top students in their grade at Park View.
Chubby's Fundraiser Success!
We want to give a HUGE thank you to Chubby's Cafe in Payson for hosting a school fundraiser for Park View. Families from Park View and all over Payson ate at Chubby's last month and generated a whopping $1,098 for Park View! We are so appreciative of all the families who helped, it's because of you and businesses like Chubby's that we are able to provide meaningful experiences for our students.
