February 19th the winners of Park View's Science Fair went to the Regional Competition to show off their hypotheses, their theories and experimentation. Two of our scientifically minded students are moving on to the Central Utah Science and Engineering Fair. Hannah Hinton and Jackson Fitzwater will be representing Park View at this event.
Hannah wanted to find out what materials attracted the most electricity. She exposed different materials to electricity then placed the item next to an aluminum ball. The distance the ball moved toward the materials determined how much electricity was held in the object. Brilliant!
Jackson made an antenna for his TV with cardboard and tin foil. He said he could receive 41 channels using his homemade antenna. He said it was better than their professional antenna that receives 36 channels. Amazing! He said his brother won the Science Fair when he was young and it inspired him to enter.
We can't wait to see how these students fare at the Central Utah Science and Engineering Fair. Thanks to Mr. Broadbent for his time and organization of this event.
