There was rhyming in the air when the Journalism Club challenged each class to write a Winter Poem.  The winning class would win an Ice Cream Party.  Teachers and students alike put their heads to together to create their best masterpiece to enter the competition.  Here are the winning entries:

1st place

Snowman and Me!

By Mrs. Barney’s 2nd Grade Class

One day I made a snowman when it was recess time,

His eyes were made of gumdrops, His mouth was made of dimes.

While the time was going by, he started then to cry,

Because he missed his mama's snowberry pie.

I gave his back a pat and hugged him very tight,

I will call your mama so we can play tonight!

I said “Don’t you worry, don’t you cry  We will make snowberry pie."

2nd Place

Snow Falls, by Mrs. Thomas Kindergarten class.

Snow falls.

Nice and white.

On the trees.

Winter breeze.

 3rd Place

Winter, Winter   By Mrs. Paice's Fourth Grade Class.

Winter, Winter, Winter cold

Where the icy winds will blow.

Let's go sledding thru the snow

Winter, Winter here we go!

Shiver, shiver, shiver-Br-r-r-r!

We're freezing cold, frostbite toes,

Runny nose, coughing woes.

So, in the house we will go!

Winter , winter, winter cold.

Then we'll warm up with cocoa.

Warmed up we're ready to go,

Back outside into the snow!

Congratulations to the winners.  Be watching for more wonderful entries to the Winter Poem Contest.
