Clark Planetarium Scientists Come to Park View

On Nov. 2, 2015 Scientists came from the Clark Planetarium to instruct 4th, 5th and 6th graders about the art of science.

During the Clark Planetarium Assembly, a scientist demonstrated the shock wave.  Students lined up and held hands.  The first person touched a big round ball that had static electricity flowing through it.  Each person felt a shock from the electricity clear down the line.  Michael Lopez said, “It felt like lightening.”

I learned about air pressure.  A leaf blower made a big ball float because there was more air pressure under the ball.

I learned that if you mix flame with certain chemicals, the flame will explode.

I watched how a forest fire explodes.  There was a big tub with fire in it.  As it spun around, and the air rotated, the fire got bigger.

The assembly was very interesting because all the experiments that the scientist showed us.
