Today at Park View, we had a "wheel" good assembly. Rich Wieber from BMX Bicycle Stunt Shows came to show students some great tricks as well as teach them about bike safety. As a reward for 100% homework completion, our DARE assembly was well attended. Rich taught the students to always wear their helmet, check their bike before riding, and believe in their dreams. "You can do anything you dream about, if you practice hard enough," Rich explained. He told a compelling story describing a day he was practicing behind a Wal-Mart, when a 12-year-old boy came to ask questions about doing stunts. He took time to chat with the boy, who was most grateful. Almost 20 years later, that "boy" tours with him and is a nationally recognized BMX racer. The show ended with a grand finale as one of the riders, Justin, jumped over Mr. Gowans, Mrs. Reynolds, Ms. Allred, and Ms. Larson! The kids were amazed!
