Good Morning Grandparents

Submitted by samantha.jasperson on

On Thursday students brought their grandparents to school! Grandparents came and enjoyed a continental type breakfast and some good one on one time with their grandkids. In addition, they were able to visit the book fair to see all the cool books the younger kids are reading these days. We were blown away by the response and turn out of this event! Thanks to all that came, we hoped you enjoyed your time with us. And thanks to our PVP (Park View Parents) group, this wouldn't have been possible without you!

Math Facts Rule!

Submitted by samantha.jasperson on

The third-grade students have been working extra hard to learn all of their multiplication facts. Third grade is the first year students are introduced to multiplication, so learning their facts is really important! To reward these hard-working students they were taught how to make marshmallow shooters. They spent a portion of their afternoon seeing who's shooter could shoot the longest distance, who could win the most point by hitting the target, and they enjoyed snacking on a few marshmallows too! Good work third graders.

STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math

This last week students were given an awesome opportunity to engage in fun STEM activities, all thanks to the STEM Action Center! (@stemutah) The Utah STEM Action Center is able to bring these great programs to our schools because of the support of our legislators. Students were first taught about a science concept within their grade level. Then they were able to try it out for themselves using hands-on activities. One of the activities (shown in the pictures) was to build the tallest, strongest, free-standing structure. These kids had a blast!

Utah Mining Association Comes to Park View

The Utah Mining Association came to Park View to give our fourth graders a first-hand look at different rocks and minerals found right here in Utah! The presentation was full of hands-on learning and even some Hostess treats. They had fun learning about mining, resources found in Utah and safety. Thank you Utah Mining Association for coming to our school!

Spelling Bee Winners!

Submitted by samantha.jasperson on

Last week students from the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades went head to head in our school spelling bee. The competition was tough and all who participated spelled their best in order to be the last one standing. Ultimately only three were victorious: Shayla Parker (4th) taking third place, Bently Myers (5th) taking second place, and Jennica Chabot (6th) taking first place! Congratulations to them and all the students who participated.
